We are especially excited to release the port to Raspbian “Buster!” The Raspberry Pi 4 has more computing power and higher bandwidth connectivity. This makes the Raspberry Pi 4 even more exciting for music and media creation. And now, with McLaren Labs rtpmidi you can send MIDI messages over Ethernet and WiFi to a Raspberry Pi 4.
RTPMIDI – I Love it.
I’m using RTPMIDI on a raspberry pi 4 to connect the family Yamaha piano to my Windows 10 PC.
This is a simple setup. I was looking for an easy player piano solution between devices in separate rooms.
RTPMIDI is the answer.
It started as a wireless midi project, but latency is off the chart as others have advised.
Luckily there is also an Ethernet drop in the room, so over the local LAN, latency is seldom more than 3ms.
